Privacy policy
What we collect when you contact us, why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do with it.

Who we are
This website is run by EV Charge San Diego (“we”, “us”), 2244 Faraday Ave #139, Carlsbad, CA 92008. You can reach us about anything in this policy at sales@evchargesandiego.com or (619) 202-8501.
The short version
We have never sold or shared your personal information, and we never will. We don’t report your quote request, your contact details or the ads you click to any advertising platform or any other company. We never see or store your card details; card payments are handled by Square.
What we collect
When you send a quote request or a message
Your name, the project address, the way you asked us to send your estimate, and either the email address or the mobile number that goes with it, plus your message and anything else you choose to tell us. We also record the page you sent the form from, and which ad or website brought you to us (such as the campaign or ad reference in the link you arrived on), so we know which of our advertising works. That information stays with us.
The photos and videos you upload of your electrical panel and your parking area are kept with your request. We use them to work out your price and to plan the installation. They are stored in our private file storage, are never published, and are not used for advertising. Ask us and we will delete them.
We store a one-way hash of the IP address attached to a submitted enquiry to help detect spam. Separately, our visitor geography report temporarily stores the full IP address of a site visitor, together with the date, page visited, and relevant quote/contact actions. Access to this report is password-protected and is limited to the business owner. These raw IP analytics records expire after 30 days.
Text messages and your consent
If you choose to have your estimate sent by text message, you tick a box on the quote form agreeing to receive those texts. We keep a record of that agreement: the exact wording you agreed to, the date and time, and the number you gave us. That record is how we can show your consent was given, which our messaging provider and the mobile carriers require.
We text you about your quote request: your estimate, questions about the job, and scheduling. Consent is not a condition of purchase — you can pick email instead and get exactly the same price. Message frequency varies with your job. Message and data rates may apply.
Reply STOP to any message and we stop texting that number. Reply HELP for help, or call us on (619) 202-8501. Opting out of texts does not cancel your quote; we will reply by email or phone instead.
We never sell or share your mobile number or your consent with anyone. It goes only to the messaging provider that delivers our texts, which may not use it for anything else.
When you call or text us
Our business phone line runs through a telephone service provider. It keeps a record of calls and text messages, including your phone number, the time and the length of the call. If you leave a voicemail it is recorded and transcribed. Photos you text us, such as a picture of your electrical panel, are kept with the message.
When you browse the site
Our forms set a single session cookie so we can confirm a submission really came from
our page. If you arrive from an advertisement or another website, we set our own
cookie (ev_vid) holding a random visitor number, and keep a record of which
ad, campaign or website brought you, for up to 120 days, so a quote request you send
later can be credited to the right ad. That record is ours alone, is never sent to any
advertising company, and does not include your IP address. For our first-party visitor
geography reporting, we also record page views and form interactions.
We use a third-party IP geolocation lookup service (ipwho.is) to estimate your
city, region, postal area and approximate map coordinates from your IP address.
The lookup provider receives the IP being looked up. Estimated coordinates refer
to a broad area, not your exact physical or household location; we do not request
your device's GPS location.
Advertising
We advertise online, but what happens on this site stays with us. No advertising company’s tags, pixels or tracking cookies are loaded here, and we never report your quote request, your contact details, or the ad or link you clicked to any advertising platform or any other company, either as-is or as a hashed (scrambled) copy. Working out which of our advertising brings in enquiries is done with our own records.
Because we don’t sell or share personal information, there is nothing you need to opt out of. If you would like an opt-out on record anyway, you can set one at Your Privacy Choices, and we automatically treat a browser’s Global Privacy Control signal as an opt-out.
We use a website analytics service to see how visitors use the site, such as which pages are viewed. It sets its own cookies. It does not receive the details you type into our forms.
How we use it
To reply to you, prepare a quote, schedule and carry out the work, file permits and arrange inspections, take payment, keep records of the job for warranty purposes, and work out which of our advertising brings in enquiries. We do not add you to a mailing list, and we do not send marketing you have not asked for.
Who else handles it
We have never sold or shared your personal information, and we never will. Nobody receives it for their own marketing or advertising. The only outside parties that handle it are the ones we need to do your job and run the business, and only for that purpose:
- the companies that host this website and provide our email, phone and text-message service, who process it for us and may not use it for anything else;
- Square, which processes card payments, as described under Payments;
- the IP geolocation lookup provider, which receives IP addresses in order to return approximate locality information;
- the city or county building department that issues your permit, and SDG&E when the work needs utility coordination, which usually means your name and the job address;
- anyone we are legally required to disclose it to.
Payments
Card payments are processed by Square. Your card details are entered into Square’s own secure systems, not ours, and we never receive or store your full card number, expiry date or security code. Square may show us limited details, such as the card type, the last four digits and whether the payment went through, so we can match it to your invoice. Square handles your card information under its own privacy policy.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not become a job are kept for as long as they are useful for following up. Raw IP visitor-geography records are retained for up to 30 days before automatic deletion. For jobs we carry out, we keep records for as long as needed for the warranty, permit and inspection records, tax and legal obligations. Invoices and payment confirmations are kept for our tax records; they never include your full card number.
Your choices
We don’t sell or share your information, but you can record an opt-out at any time at Your Privacy Choices.
You can ask us to show you the information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. Email or call us using the details above and we will reply within 45 days. We may need to confirm who you are first, and we may keep records we are legally required to keep. We will not treat you differently for making a request.
Do Not Track
Some browsers send a “Do Not Track” signal. There is no agreed standard for responding to it, so this site does not change its behaviour when it receives one. The Global Privacy Control signal is different: we honour it, as described under Advertising. We do not track visitors across other companies’ websites, and no advertising company’s tracking tags run on this site.
Children
This site is for homeowners arranging electrical work. It is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
Security
The site is served only over an encrypted connection, and enquiry data is stored on access-restricted systems. No method of storing or sending data is completely secure, so please do not send us card details by email, by text or through our website forms; card payments go only through Square.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
