How to permit a home EV charger in Poway
Poway has accepted only electronic permit submittals since June 2022, through its Building, Planning, Engineering & Fire Online Services. Inspections run Monday to Friday, including the Fridays City Hall is closed.

Ask what to submit
Poway doesn't publish a home EV checklist online. The Building Division answers at 858-668-4645, and its Building Permit Plans & Requirements sheet is available at the counter. Expect something close to the documents other offices ask for.
Apply through Online Services
All permit applications go through the city's Online Services; paper submittals haven't been accepted since June 1, 2022.
Install, then plan the inspection day
Because requests made before 4 p.m. go on the next business day, finishing the install by mid-afternoon lets the inspector come the following morning.
Book the inspection
Call 858-668-4646 and leave a message, or schedule online. Requests made before 4 p.m. are scheduled for the next business day unless you ask for another day. Inspections run Monday to Friday, including the Fridays City Hall is closed.
